|My 14 year old son George played on live radio for the first time last night on Radio Shetland for the Children in Need programme. I dropped him off at the studio and went out to my car and switched on the radio to listen. I got my mobile phone on record to capture him playing fiddle along with Kirsten Henry on piano. It was a wild night with gale force winds and heavy sleety showers (which was rattling off the windscreen on my car!) and there was also a helicopter flying overhead, so it all added some interesting sound effects to my already poor quality phone recording!
Here is a couple of sets I managed to record in the car. The first is a lovely slow air composed by Phil Cunningham called ‘The Pearl’. The second set is two tunes composed by George, ‘Da Booncy Castle’ followed by a tune he hasn’t got a name for yet and finishes with a great reel composed by Gideon Stove called ‘Da Brig o’ Fitch.
