JONATHAN RITCH

Jonathan Ritch is from Unst where he now lives and works. He too has a wide range of musical interests, combining sound engineering, performing and youth work. Jonathan plays bass guitar with a number of high profile Shetland Bands including Fiddlers’ Bid, Drop the Box and Shoormal. He has toured extensively throughout Europe and beyond, including Australia and the USA, and performed on a number of top selling albums.

In 1998, Jonathan graduated from the Glasgow School of Audio Engineering with disctinction. As an engineer and producer he has since recorded popular albums for Drop the Box, Shoormal and young folk band Harem Scarem. He also helped engineer Steven’s CD “Spencie’s Tunes”.In recent years, Jonathan has collaborated with Alice on a number of highly successful youth and education projects. Their CD project with Unst children “In the sky we see the moon” was recently featured on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction. Jonathan also teaches a new sound engineering course at the Baltasound School and has a number of bass and guitar pupils.
